Antique New Haven clocks are available for sale on various websites, including eBay.com, TheClockProfessor.com and Amazon.com. One of the most sought-after New Haven clocks is the 1884 flying pendulum shelf-clock known as Ignatz, according to CollectorsWeekly.com.
The New Haven Clock Company started in 1853 as a manufacturer of brass clock movements. The company was the first in America to mass-produce the movements, which it supplied to the Jerome Manufacturing Company. At the time, Jerome was the world's largest clock-making company. In 1856, Jerome went bankrupt, and New Haven purchased it. The New Haven Clock Company went out of business in 1960.
