Among the advantages of plastic molding are that it is impervious to moisture and resistant to termites, rot, mold, warping, cracking and splintering. Plastic molding and trim is also lighter and can be less expensive than other types of molding and trim.
Plastic molding is often pre-finished and can feature intricate designs and patterns that match the most expensive plaster molding. Plastic molding cuts easily with hand tools, and installation can be accomplished without angle/miter cuts by using corner blocks. Some types of plastic molding, particularly large crown molding, utilize hidden mounting tabs that eliminate nail or screw holes on the surface.
