Why Is Remembrance Day Celebrated?

Remembrance Day is celebrated slightly differently depending on the country in which it is celebrated, but its purpose is always to commemorate the members of a country's armed forces. Remembrance Day is mainly a Canadian holiday, but the United States has Veterans Day, which has the same purpose.

Remembrance Day in Canada and Veterans Day in the United States are always celebrated on November 11th. There is usually a moment of silence at 11:11am on the 11th day of the 11th month to respect and remember all the men and women who have died in service of their countries and for all those who have served.
