There are numerous songs for celebrating the Kwanzaa holiday, including "Celebrate Kwanzaa," which has been performed by recording artist Bryan McCabe. There is also another song with the same title by Lauren Mayer, who has another Kwanzaa-related song called "Festivals of Light."

Marla Lewis recorded a song called "Celebrating Kwanzaa" and there is another Kwanzaa-related song by Greta Pedersen called "Kwanzaa is here." There are also some more general holiday-related songs that reference Kwanzaa, including "Holiday Song" by Joyce Paultre and "Holidays are Fun" by Music with Mar.

Kwanzaa music doesn't just come in the form of traditional songs but also as music themed for the holiday celebration. The celebration, rooted in Africa, celebrates the ideals of unity and taking control of life. As such, there are Kwanzaa music compilations available, comprised of material that celebrates African culture. They contain styles related to music from the continent as well as styles derived from them, like jazz, for instance. Some of these compilations can be quite varied, employing genres like world beat, Latin and R&B, featuring very popular African-American artists, like James Brown and Aretha Franklin as well as noted African artists, such as Mahlathini & The Mahotella Queens, Oumou Sangare and Tabu Ley Rochereau.
