Some major items that are usually included on a wedding planning checklist are finding and reserving a venue, purchasing a dress and/or tuxedo and creating a guest list. A wedding planning checklist should track the different tasks to be done in chronological order so that they are completed on time.
According to Real Simple, more items that should be checked off as early as possible are making honeymoon plans, choosing the wedding party and booking the officiant. The list should also include hiring a caterer, booking any entertainment, registering for gifts, booking hotel blocks for out of town guests and launching a wedding website. Ordering wedding invitations, the cake, bridesmaid dresses and any gifts for wedding party members are some important items that should also be kept in mind. Booking a florist, arranging transportation, scheduling any hair or makeup appointments and purchasing the rings should also make the list.
As the date grows closer, suggested checklist items include sending out invitations, finalizing all vendor agreements, sending out any payments due and assembling any gifts or favors. If there is a religious element to the wedding, there may be additional items needed on the checklist, including booking the church, writing vows, finding the desired officiant and completing any other denomination-specific requirements.
