The term 'Galentine's Day' refers to a way of celebrating Valentine's Day in which a woman shows her appreciation for the non-romantic relationships she has with the women in her life, including both friends and family. This celebration can be an alternative to the traditional romantic rituals and commercial practices of Valentine's Day, or it can simply be a supplemental part of the holiday for those who also want to celebrate the holiday in a romantic way.

The concept of Galentine's Day was popularized by a February 2010 episode of the American sitcom "Parks and Recreation." The show's main character, Leslie Knope, uses the opportunity to make personalized gifts for her female friends, co-workers and family.
