Where Did Thanksgiving Originate?

The first Thanksgiving originated in a small town called Plymouth when Governor William Bradford called for a celebratory feast to mark the first successful corn harvest after a difficult winter. The celebration of the harvest lasted around three days.

The first Thanksgiving was most likely not called Thanksgiving by the first people to celebrate this holiday. Invitations were sent out to the allies of the colony, which included the Wampanoag chief Massasoit.

Although no official menus exist, a chronicler recorded that some men were sent on a fowling mission and that the Wampanoag guests brought five deer to contribute to the feast.
