Creative ideas for hosting a tea party include letting guests decorate their own plain white teacups and saucers and providing them with multiple loose-leaf teas that they can use to create their own special blends to drink at the party. Decorate your tables by placing freshly cut flowers in fancy display teacups and empty tea canisters.
For the teacup decorating, lay down some newspaper to protect your work surface, and provide each guest with a plain white teacup and saucer. Lay out an array of different colored permanent markers for them to use to create their designs. When all of the guests are finished, place their cups and saucers on baking trays, and place them in the oven at 450 degrees Fahrenheit. Let them bake for 30 minutes, and then turn off the oven and let it cool before opening it to avoid cracking the cups and saucers.
For guests to design their own tea blends, lay out bowls of loose tea leaves, as well as measuring spoons and cards that identify each flavor. Provide guests with empty tea bags to place their mixtures in, and give them blank tags to attach to their bags so that they can record what they included in their blends. When the guests are finished creating their blends, have them staple the tops of their tea bags to seal in the mixtures. Include bowls of lemon, honey, sugar, cream and milk for guests to add to taste after they have brewed their teas.
