Many good Halloween snacks are simple, everyday snacks that are shaped to look like common Halloween themes like ghosts, pumpkins, spiders and cats. For example, sugar cookies shaped like cats and decorated with black icing make for an excellent party snack. Pumpkin cookies shaped like pumpkins give both the taste and look of Halloween. Meringue cookies lend themselves well to a ghost theme due to their bright white color and fluffy texture.
Shape cheese and other soft foods into Halloween shapes for a visually exciting party appetizer. A mixture of soft white cheeses shaped into a ball with a cinnamon stick in the center looks like a miniature white pumpkin. A soft deviled egg looks like a creepy eyeball when an olive is added to the center of the yolk.
Mix together seasonal holiday candy with everyday food to make a quick appetizer or dessert. For example, candy corn sprinkled in with popcorn, peanuts and chocolate chips makes a good snack to share with a large group of people.
Food coloring also lends itself well for a Halloween party. Green food coloring added to punch gives the punch a look of witch's brew. Add green food coloring to cheese or sour cream dips to give the look of goblins.
