Some sites that offer a wedding checklist are RealSimple.com, LittleWeddingGuide.com and TheKnot.com. Each site provides tasks organized by timeframe. Real Simple gives brief descriptions with each task and allows the user to check off the tasks that are already completed. Little Wedding Guide has links for users to click for most tasks to get more information on ideas and tips. The Knot provides users a personalized checklist with a free signup.
Real Simple's list begins at 16 to nine months before the wedding; 16 months is the average length of a U.S. couple's engagement. Some of the first tasks are to look through bridal magazines for ideas, determine a budget, choose the wedding party and make a guest list. Real Simple recommends hiring the photographer and/or the videographer and the DJ and/or band about eight months before the wedding. Order favors, menu cards and the rings around three months before the wedding.
Little Wedding Guide recommends choosing a bridal dress and bridesmaid dresses, registering for a bridal registry, and finding an officiant about six to nine months before the wedding. Book the honeymoon and hotel rooms for the wedding night about four to six months in advance of the wedding.
