One of the easiest ways to make Christmas yard decorations is to string white lights around trees and bushes or decorate a pine tree with ornaments. One can also use plywood to make life-sized cutouts of Christmas-themed objects.
While decorating inside the home is common for most during the holidays, sometimes the outside gets neglected. It might seem like a daunting task, since the space is so vast, but a few strategically placed items can turn a yard into a winter wonderland.
Homeowners can start by twining white or colored lights around trees in the yard and draping them over bushes. Be sure, however, that the lights are approved for outdoor use. Running electricity can be a problem. One way to solve the issue is to use solar-powered lights. In addition to the lights, decorate a pine tree in the yard, or palm tree for those who live in the southern states, with ornaments.
To add depth and dimension to the yard decorations, cut out some Christmas shapes from plywood and decorate. A large snowman, over-sized Christmas ornaments, a Santa silhouette, and reindeer are all appropriate ideas. This is a perfect project for the whole family as even the youngest children can join in with painting and decorating the shapes. Prop them up in the yard and highlight them with a spotlight for easy night viewing.
