One way to celebrate your mom on Mother's Day is to give her a full day of pampering that includes breakfast in bed, a movie of her choice and dinner at her favorite restaurant. Another idea is to take your mom on a trip anywhere she enjoys on the weekend of the holiday.
If your mom lives in a different city, plan a surprise visit. Call a family member who lives near your mom and ask for help coordinating plans. Throw a party in her honor, and in the honor of any mother in attendance. Prepare a brunch, or throw a mother-themed costume and movie party.
Another idea is to create a treasure hunt. Start the hunt with a special dinner, and then give her a gift box after dinner. The box contains clues for finding another gift box, and so on until she finds the final gift box with her actual present.
If your mom passed away, give a charitable donation in her honor. Alternately, volunteer at a battered women's shelter or a cause about which she cared. Get your family together and do something she loved to do, such as see a movie or play golf, or spend the evening watching family movies and honoring her memory.
