Broadline closeout retailer Big Lots sells Christmas trees, tree toppers, tinsel, ornaments and Christmas decorations during the holiday season. The discount retailer operates 1,495 stores in 48 states, as of 2015.
Founded as the Consolidated Stores Corporation in 1967 in Columbus, Ohio, Big Lots sells an ever-changing assortment of overstock and discontinued toys, clothing, electronics, pet supplies and other items at deeply discounted prices. In addition, Big Lots stores sell canned and packaged food products, and many stores have furniture departments.
In 2012, Big Lots bought out Pic 'n' Save and MacFrugals' discount stores and rebranded them as Big Lots. In 2013, Big Lots opened five stores in Canada, but ceased operations the following year.
