What Is Xbox Live?

Xbox Live is an online service where users of the Xbox 360 can play games with individuals in other locations. As of 2014, Xbox Live also allows users to stream movies, music and other programming from third-party providers.

The Xbox Live service can be accessed through a wired or wireless connection, and it requires a high-speed Internet connection through cable or DSL. Users can download free game demonstrations and can purchase additional games. Incomplete games can be saved to Xbox Live and then resumed at a later time. Smartphones and tablets can be used in conjunction with Xbox Live to provide additional screens.
