War Admiral, Assault, Citation, Secretariat and Seattle Slew are horses that have won the Triple Crown. The last horse to win the Triple Crown was American Pharoah in 2015.
The Triple Crown is the highest honor in thoroughbred racing in the United States. A horse achieves the honor by winning the Kentucky Derby, Preakness and the Belmont Stakes. Sir Barton was the first horse to win all three in 1919, although the Triple Crown title did not exist until Gallant Fox won all three races in 1930. Eleven horses have won the Triple Crown, while 24 others came close by winning two of the three races.
