To use a Sizzix Originals Die, place the bottom cutting pad on a flat surface and the die on top of the pad. Before putting on the top cutting pad, place a piece of paper between it and the die. Firmly press down to cut. This is the same procedure used for Sizzix's Bigz and Steel-Rule Dies.Continue Reading
While the same cutting principle is applied to most Sizzix dies, some require special materials in order to properly cut. For Sizzlits and Clearlits dies, an extended multipurpose platform is needed. The bottom cutting pad is placed on top of the platform before cutting. This platform is also employed when using Embosslits and Decorative Strip dies, metal stencils, and Textured Impressions, Textured Fades and Texture Trades embossing folders. For wafer-thin dies, such as Framelits and Thinlits, the multipurpose platform is replaced by a magnetic platform.
Other materials needed include a premium crease pad, which is used to cut dies with a crease and inserted over the paper before the top cutting pad is placed. For metal stencils, both a silicone rubber and impressions pad are placed, in that order, on top of the paper before installing the top cutting pad.
Embossing folders imprint a design on paper without cutting completely through. To use on one layer of paper or cardstock, place the paper inside the embossing folder and press as usual. To emboss both sides of a folded card, place one side of the card into the folder and tuck the other end underneath the folder before pressing.Learn more about Paper Crafts
