What Is the Typical Value of Coyote Fur?

As of June 2015, the North American Fur Auction reported coyote fur pelts designated Western Heavy sell for an average price of $85.49; Western Light pelts sell for an average of $39.15, and Eastern sell for an average of $25.71. Section III, or damaged pelts, average $18.97.

North American Fur Auction buyers consider color and condition to determine the final price they pay for a particular pelt. Western coyote pelts typically sell for a higher price than those from Eastern coyotes. Representatives from Italy, France, Canada and Hong Kong primarily buy coyote pelts for the international fashion and trim trade.

Auction agents accept pelts from hunters and transport them to Canada for sale worldwide. A few weeks after the pelts sell, the auction house sends the hunter a check in the mail.
