To edit a photo for artistic effect, launch the image in Adobe Photoshop, a program that enables users to apply a wide range of artistic effects to their photos. Photoshop allows for color adjustments, photo brightening, background blur effects, and the removal of blemishes, wrinkles and red-eye.
To change the color of an image, utilize the hue saturation slider by clicking Hue/Saturation under Add an Adjustment. With this slider, you can adjust the hue, saturation and lightness of the entire photo. Alternatively, use the Lasso tool to select only a portion of the image to adjust, leaving the rest of the photograph untouched by the hue and saturation alteration.
Turn a color photo into a black and white portrait with the use of the Black & White adjustment selection. Like the hue and saturation tool, you can apply this effect to either the entire picture or just a small selection by using the Lasso tool.
To give the photo a sharper look, use the Unsharp Mask filter within the Filters menu. This feature's three-slider system displays the amount, radius and threshold of the sharpening. By adjusting the sliders, you can edit the photo to look more or less textured depending on the desired outcome.
