"The Sims 3" by publisher Electronic Arts was released June 2, 2009. In the first week of sales, the game reportedly sold over 1.4 million copies.
The Sims is a life-simulator game series where players create virtual people, called "Sims," who the player partially controls. The Sims 3 included the ability to create whole open neighborhoods which a player's Sims could roam through to visit their neighbors. Sims' personalities were made more unique by allowing players to ascribe their Sims with personality traits that influence how the Sims interact with one another. The Sims 3 also introduced advanced player customization, which allows players to customize home furnishings and share them with other players.
