Nintendo Wi-Fi was discontinued in 2014, so there are no longer any services provided by this facility. This means that the previous support for online multiplayer and chat features in certain Nintendo games is now disabled.
The service was discontinued on May 20th, 2014, affecting all branded Nintendo games on the DS and Wii by removing the capacity for online interaction. Some third-party games and saved online services can be accessed using the newer Nintendo Network functionality, but this compatibility is not widespread, and new activity cannot be saved for most games. Only third-party games with specific dedicated servers are now able to access full online functionality.
