In 1918, Karl Hassel and Ralph H. G. Mathews founded the company that became known as Zenith in Chicago. The company earned a reputation for innovation, quality and style. In 1927, Zenith produced the first push-button radio and later introduced portable transistor radios. The cathedral and Art Deco cabinetry styles of Zenith radios of the 1930s continue to be popular with collectors and decorators.
