Full Answer

Players mix the dominoes face down on the table, and each player draws his hand. In a two-player game, each player draws seven dominoes. In a three-player game, players take six dominoes, and four players take five. The remaining dominoes make up the "boneyard" and are moved to the side of the playing area.

The player with the highest double-numbered dominoes in his hand plays it onto the gameplay area. The players then take turns, going clockwise around the table, to add a domino to one of the two opening ends of the layout.

The open half of the domino must match one half of the domino being played. For example, if the open ends show a four and a two, the player must play a domino at one of the ends with a matching number.

If a player can't play a domino, he must knock and pick up a domino from the boneyard.

The game ends when one player plays all his dominoes, or when no player can play. In this case, the player with fewest dots in their hand wins.
