Old Hobart M. Cable upright pianos are known for being soulful with pure tone qualities and great power of sound. The old upright pianos are further renowned for high musical excellence, durability and high-quality cabinet work, according to the Blue Book of Pianos.
In addition to their sweet and pure tone, old Hobart M. Cable pianos display distinctive construction of the piano cabinet. A Hobart M. Cable piano is built solidly into a compact upright frame. Old Hobart M. Cable pianos are made of high-quality woods and other materials. The scientific basis of the piano's quality is the musical scale. The pianos offer an even, unbroken, constant and fulfilling quality, and it is said that a scale played on a Hobart M. Cable piano is especially appealing to musically trained ears.
The Cable Piano Co. spawned the Hobart M. Cable company in 1900. The company originated in La Porte, Indiana. Hobart M. Cable was one of the piano makers at the original company. After branching off on his own, Cable continued to make player pianos throughout the Depression years and up until the 1960s. The Cable name was eventually discontinued. However, the Korean company American Sejung Corp. purchased the brand in the 1990s and continues to produce pianos under the Hobart M. Cable name.
