Picking up directly where "Modern Warfare 2" left off, this game allows the player to assume the role of multiple characters in a fictional conflict between American forces and the Russian Federation. Gameplay primarily revolves around repelling various Russian invasions into New York City and several locations in Europe.
Released in 2011, this game is the third installment in the "Modern Warfare" series in the "Call of Duty" franchise and covers the various protagonists' efforts to prevent Russian Ultranationalist leader Vladimir Makarov's efforts to invade the west and wage WWIII. Like its predecessors, this game is a first person shooter and offers three sets of missions featuring many new player options and characters not available in previous versions. This game earned a rating of M for mature audiences from the Entertainment Rating Software Board for its content, including graphic terrorist attacks against civilians, which the player is given the option of skipping.
