As of 2015, Positively Perfect and Natural Girls United provide an assortment of popular black dolls. In 2012, Positively Perfect debuted in Wal-Mart with only two types of dolls. The dolls sold over 100,000 units, and the line expanded to 30 dolls.
In 2011, Natural Girls United released its black dolls that feature various natural hairstyles. Each doll’s hairstyle is hand-customized and include styles, such as afros and micro braids. By the 2013, the line of dolls sold out after the dolls received some media attention.
As of 2015, black dolls from the Queens of Africa brand are out-selling Barbie dolls in Nigeria, according to the Daily Mail.
