To play "Word Search" on Spelling City, select a word list, and set the game options. When you find a word, click on the first or last letter, and drag the mouse over the rest of the letters. Find all the words to complete the game.
To find the game on SpellingCity.com as of 2015, click See all activities next to the Learning Games heading. In the Spelling section of the Free Activities, click Word Search. Click a sample word list. Users who have a premium membership with the site have the option of creating their own word lists.
Change the settings by clicking the arrow buttons. The game has easy and hard difficulties, and short, medium or long game lengths. The game also has a timer that players can turn on or off. Click the arrows under Selected Words for Your Game to choose a word list. Click Play to start the game.
In-game options include changing the text size and printing the word search. Clicking Back takes the player back to the options menu, and clicking Solve shows where all the words are. When the player finds and selects a word, it's shaded blue. Its letters on the word list become gray. When the player finds all the words, the game displays a Congratulations message.
