Each Rummikub player receives 14 random tiles, and the objective is to be the first player to place all his tiles on the table. This is done by creating sets of groups or runs.
Rummikub requires a set of 106 total tiles, with 104 containing digits from 1 to 13 and two joker tiles. The tiles not distributed to the players are placed in a pool face-down at the center of the table.
Groups contain at least three tiles of the same number, and runs contain at least three tiles with sequential numbers of the same color. Jokers act as wild cards, and a one cannot follow a 13 in a run. Groups and runs create melds which give the player an amount of points equal to the total face value of the tiles.
At the outset of each game, players are required to create an initial meld equaling at least 30 points. Once the initial meld is complete, players can create new sets, build on existing sets or rearrange an existing set. If a player cannot create a set during a turn, the player must take a tile from the pool to end the turn early.
The player with the highest point total at the end wins the game.
