Gamers play POG The Game with a heavy disc called a slammer, which they use to slam down on a stack of pogs that are stacked on a mat. The goal of the game is for one player to flip over all of his opponent's pogs.
To start POG The Game, each player contributes the same number of pieces to build a tower of pogs. Then they take turns throwing their slammers on top of the pogs to make the pieces scatter. The thrower gets to keep any pogs that land face-up. The pogs that land face down are re-stacked, and the game continues. The game ends once there are no pogs remaining in the stack. The winner is the person who collects the most pogs by the end of the game.
POG The Game from Milton Bradley takes around 30 minutes to complete and is for two to six players. While the basis of the game is to flip over the most pogs, there are some variations in the rules.
Pog slammers are flat discs of plastic, rubber or metal. In some games, however, metal slammers aren't allowed because they are much heavier than other slammers, giving the user an unfair advantage. The pogs themselves are made out of lightweight cardboard with a printed design on the front.
