The Jumble word puzzle, officially called "Jumble, That Scrambled Word Game," provides players with a clue, an illustration and four sets of jumbled words, or anagrams. Two of the anagrams have five letters, and the other two have six. Players reconstruct the jumbled words and arrange the letters in marked positions. After consulting the clue and illustration for hints, they rearrange the marked letters to form the word or phrase that answers the puzzle.
As of 2013, the Jumble puzzle appears daily in more than 600 newspapers around the world. It is also available on several mobile game applications, as well as online at Jumble.com. Different variations of the game include Jumble for Kids, Jumble Crosswords, Hollywood Jumble and Jumble Solitaire. In 1994, a television game show based on Jumble aired on The Family Channel, and Wink Martindale hosted the show, called “Jumble.”
Comic book artist Martin Naydel, who created Jumble in 1954, originally called the game Scramble. As of 2014, Jumble is created by David L. Hoyt and Jeff Knurek.Learn more about Puzzles & Brainteasers
