"Call of Duty: World at War: Zombies" is a first-person shooter game in which players are trapped in a bunker and must defend themselves from increasingly large waves of zombies using guns and a knife. The game's controls can be customized to some degree, but all of the schemes involve touching the screen to move, to aim and to fire weapons. The default controls allow the player to use a virtual joystick to move and touch the right-hand side of the screen, in order to look around and aim. There is some level of automatic tracking when a player lines up his reticule with a zombie.
Points are earned for killing zombies and can be traded for new weapons between levels. The base game takes place in a single bunker with multiple entry points for the zombies. Players must move between entry points in order to monitor them for incoming zombies. Entry points can also be manually reinforced with beams and boards, which the zombies gradually knock down.
It is possible for multiple people to play cooperatively. This makes the game somewhat easier, as each player can be assigned to cover an entry point. Multiplayer is available both over the Internet and locally through a Bluetooth or WiFi network.
