To search for war images on the Library of Congress’ website, LOC.gov, navigate to the website, click on Prints & Photographs Reading Room, and then click on Prints & Photographs Online Catalog. Enter the name of war for which you wish to view images into the Search box, and then click Go. View the search results, and click the links next to images of interest to view them. Alternatively, click on the Featured Collections or Civil War tabs to view specific collections of war and other historical images.

To find war images on the National Archives website, Archives.gov, click on the Research Our Records tab from the homepage, and then click the Search National Archives Catalog link. The tool searches the National Archives library, presidential libraries and electronic records and other databases. Enter the name of the conflict, such as “Vietnam War,” into the search tool, click Search, and then click the Images tab from the search results to view images only.
