"Oregon Trail" is a classic edutainment strategy game that places the player in control of a family travelling the Oregon Trail during the 19th century. The game gives the player five pioneers and is tasked with ensuring that the party survives its travel across the Oregon Trail.
Various events can happen to the player's party, such as a member falling sick, dying due to illness or their wagon becoming damaged. The player is also given limited resources and can perform various tasks, such as hunting or trading, to ensure that necessary supplies are on hand. The first version of "Oregon Trail" was released for schools in 1974 by the Minnesota Educational Computing Corporation.
