Push the manual eject button hidden in the vents to open a stuck XBOX 360 video game console. The disk drive sometimes gets stuck cannot open on its own. This is often caused when a disk label makes the disk thicker than normal, or if there is a sticky substance on the disk.
- Disconnect the power source
- Make an pushing probe
- Position the XBOX
- Locate the manual eject hole
- Open the disk tray
Disconnect the power cord from the wall outlet and remove the power cord from the A/C adapter. Disconnect the cord that connects the A/C adapter to the XBOX console power port.
Uncoil a large paper clip to provide at least 1-1/2 inch of straight wire for inserting in the console. Alternatively, cut a piece of wire — approximately 14-gauge — with at least 1-1/2 inches of probing length, plus extra length for grasping the wire.
Turn the XBOX 360 console on its side so the vents and XBOX 360 logo that were at the top in standing position now face to the left. The console is positioned like a DVD player; the disk drive opens similarly to a horizontal DVD player.
Look behind the vents on the left side toward the front of the console to locate a yellow sticker that surrounds the manual eject hole.
Slide the paper clip or wire inside the hole at the center of the yellow sticker. Push in to push force the disk tray to open. Grasp the tray with tray with your fingers and pull it out to fully open the drive.
