The publisher of the Call of Duty games, Activision, estimated in 2013 that around 100 million people had played a Call of Duty game. More recent Call of Duty player populations vary; however. game title, console, monitoring company and daily activity have to be considered.
Call of Duty is a popular franchise of numerous primary titles and spinoffs. Activision has published the games since the first installment in 2003.
While player populations change from day to day and depend upon certain variables, Activision claimed that players logged in 25 billion hours of play since the release of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare II. Those numbers have increased since the release of many more titles, such as Call of Duty: Black Ops, Call of Duty: Black Ops II, Call of Duty: Modern Warfare, Call of Duty: Ghosts and numerous other titles.
