To make playthings commonly known as unpoppable bubbles, use a mixture of water, dishwashing liquid and white corn syrup. These bubbles may pop with enough external pressure, but they are made of a much thicker film than ordinary bubbles and may be caught without breaking.
- Mix the basic solution
Use 3 cups of water, 1 cup of any dishwashing detergent and 1/2 cup of white corn syrup. About.com recommends the liquid soap brand Joy. Mix these three ingredients to make the unpoppable bubble solution. You may use dark corn syrup to darken the color.
- Add special ingredients
To color your bubbles, add any type of food coloring or glow paint to the concoction. To make the bubbles glow under a black light, use a yellow highlighter. Break it open, and let the ink mix into the water. You may also replace regular water with tonic water to make the bubbles glow blue under a black light.
- Clean up the bubbles
Keep the bubbles from popping by wetting your fingers, or the back of a spoon, before catching them. Due to the nature of corn syrup, popped bubble residue tends to be sticky. This may be cleaned with warm water and washed out of clothing. About.com suggests keeping the bubbles away from carpeting.
