A paper bag vest is a fairly easy craft that requires cutting holes in a recyclable grocery bag, decorating it and wearing it. Paper bag vests are an inexpensive way to create unique costumes for children and give them the freedom to create something they can wear.
Before starting on the vest be sure to have all the necessary supplies such as:
- A large paper bag
- Construction paper
Paper bag vests are usually used for outfits such as sheriff uniforms, cowboys vests and medieval knight armors. The following instructions listed below explain how to make paper bag vests.
- Cut a line in the center of the bag
- Cut out arm holes
- Decorate the vest
- Let the vest dry
Take a pair of scissors and cut down the center of the bag. Once the bottom is reached, cut a large circle out.
Cut out a hole on each side of the bag. Make sure the hole is wide enough so the person wearing the vest can put it on or take it off with ease.
Begin to decorate the vest using several different types of mediums. For instances where fringe is required, use scissors to cut it out from the bottom of the vest.
Once the vest is finished, set it somewhere so the decorations can dry.
