An easy to make homemade monkey costume involves gluing felt pieces to the front and a feather boa to the back of a brown hooded sweatshirt. Everything needed to make this costume can be purchased at a local craft supply store.
- 1 dark brown hooded sweatshirt
- 2 small ovals of light brown felt
- 2 small ovals of dark brown felt
- 1 large oval of light brown felt
- 1 dark brown feather boa
- Craft wire
- Fabric glue
To make the ears of the monkey, glue the small, light brown ovals on top of the dark brown ovals with fabric glue.
Put the large brown oval in the center of the sweatshirt. It should sit in between the neck, chest and bottom of the sweatshirt. Glue it down with fabric glue.
Glue the feather boa to the bottom of the back of the sweatshirt in the center. To have a tail that does not flow freely, wrap with craft wire.
After making sure the ears have dried, glue them to the top of the front of the hood. Put the hood up to make sure they are in a good position.
