Beaded bracelets are a great way to begin making homemade jewelry. To make a beaded stretch bracelet, gather the materials, string the beads on the cord, knot tightly, and dab glue on the knot for extra security.
- Gather the materials
From a craft store or online shop, buy stretch cord, super glue or bead glue, tape and colorful beads. For the stretch cord, select the largest diameter that passes through the bead holes when doubled. Make sure the beads are lightweight, with smooth holes. Beads with jagged holes can cut the stretch cord over time.
- String the beads
Cut a 7.5-inch piece of stretch cord from the roll. Tug both ends gently but firmly to stretch and condition the cord. Tape one end of the cord down on the work surface. String the beads, either randomly or in a defined pattern. Stop after 6 inches to test the size of the bracelet. Add or remove beads until the bracelet is the desired length.
- Knot tightly
Knot the two ends of the cord together using either a square knot or surgeon's knot. Add a dab of glue to the knot, and allow it to dry. Cut the ends of the cord close to the knot.
