Clean and dry your vase to remove any bacterial residue from your last arrangement. Fill it with cool water. Add a teaspoon of sugar for food and a squeeze of lemon juice to keep the water clean.
Remove any foliage that would fall below the water line. Cut each stem, using clean clippers, at an angle while holding it underwater to prevent air pockets. Wrap each stem in a wet paper towel. Divide the roses into three groups of four. Secure each group with a clear rubber band. Arrange the greenery around the vase before placing the roses inside.
Remove some of the leaves to accent the fruit. Cut the stem of each branch at an angle. Place the crab apple branch directly in the water. Do not use floral foam. Always make sure to change the water when it gets cloudy.
