LEGO Mindstorms mix traditional LEGOs with robotics. Users build simple robots with Mindstorms kits, and use a basic programming language to make the designs move.
LEGO Mindstorms come in kits, such as the EV3. After putting the robot together, builders use a simple icon-based programming interface to script movements for the robot. The Robot Commander app allows users to control robots remotely with a mobile phone or tablet. The Mindstorms software requires either an Apple Macintosh with OS X or a PC with Windows XP, Vista, 7 or 8 with the latest service packs installed. PCs must also have at least a 2.0 gigahertz dual processor, 2 gigabytes of RAM and an available USB port.
