Imagine learning games include a set of computerized programs teaching English as a second language to non-native speakers of 15 languages. The Imagine learning program offers English language tutelage to speakers of nearly 20 first languages, including: Portuguese, Spanish, Russian, Vietnamese, Somali, Mandarin, French, Korean, Japanese, Haitian Creole and more. These programs come in packages for various age groups; some cater to adult learners, while others educate children.
The Imagine learning program uses several methods of computerized teaching. For children, programs include songs and interactive cartoon characters. Programs emphasize learning and repetition, offering instruction in vocabulary, grammar and more. Imagine learning provides training in all areas requisite for language mastery, which it identifies as: phonics, reading comprehension, scope of vocabulary, fluency in speech and phonological awareness.
Programs are tailored specifically to individual students, giving them age and skill-level appropriate lessons and practice assignments. After demonstrating mastery of a skill level, students move up to the next level for additional challenges.
According to Imagine, its programs ultimately equip students for careers and college by helping students develop reading comprehension skills and fluency at post-high school levels. Students and instructors may track progress and troubleshoot problem areas through program tests and reports, which indicate student progress.
