Some ideas for small woodcraft projects include making a cutting board, art frame, crate table or pet bed. Constructing a birdhouse or a bottle carrier is also a good small project.
Creating a cutting board that can be used to showcase or prepare culinary creations requires a table saw, sandpaper, mineral oil and untreated hardwood. To make the board food-safe, make sure the mineral oil is food grade. Make an art frame by using pine board, which is relatively inexpensive. The wooden frame can be easily put together using wood glue and convenient wood joiners, and it can also be made with or without a miter saw, which makes it a good project for beginners.
Assembling a crate table requires casters, a sheet of plywood and crates. The casters are screwed to the plywood to form the base of the table, while crates are secured to the top of it. The crates should be faced outwards so they can be used as handy shelves. A pet bed, one of the simplest projects for beginning woodworkers to make, can be made using furring strips and a pine board. To fasten the wood together, use a nail gun, wood glue and a joining jig.
