American Pharoah won the 2015 Belmont Stakes while running against other horses, such as Frosted, Keen Ice, Mubtaahij and Frammento. Other horses participating include Madefromlucky, Tale of Verve and Materiality. The Belmont Stakes traditionally takes place in June.

Winning the Belmont Stakes was an important step in American Pharoah's achievement of the Triple Crown, which requires winning the Belmont Stakes in addition to the Kentucky Derby and the Preakness Stakes. Bob Baffert, Racing Hall of Famer, trained American Pharoah, while Victor Espinoza rode him at the Belmont Stakes.
Frosted started the 2015 Belmont Stakes from the sixth post and finished in second place. Prior to that race, Frosted finished in fourth place at the 2015 Kentucky Derby and had one other first-place finish in his career. Kiaran P. McLaughlin trained Frosted, and Joel Rosario was his jockey.
Keen Ice started the 2015 Belmont Stakes from the seventh post. He finished in third place at the Belmont after finishing in seventh place at the previous Kentucky Derby. Keen Ice is the son of 2007 Preakness Stakes winner Curlin. Dale Romans trained Keen Ice, while Hall of Famer Kent Desormeaux was his jockey.
