Some good "tater baker" bag patterns include a tutorial found on Craftsanity.com and another microwave potato bag project pattern on MattAndShari.com. Both patterns demonstrate how to make a cloth pouch that helps keep potatoes fluffy and tender when cooked in the microwave.
These potato baking bags are made of 100 percent cotton and have a folding flap to enclose the potato as it cooks. Each bag requires cotton batting or special lining fabric and uses a decorative fabric for the outside of the pouch. The bags include a loop similar to those found on a potholder for hanging.
The pouches are very quick and inexpensive to make. They can also be used for warming bread or steaming other vegetables. The pattern is modeled after the original product from Sholt Products, called a Tater Baker Pouch.
