A great LeBron James joke is: "Why can't LeBron James shop at the dollar store? Because he only has three quarters." Other good ones are: "Why does LeBron always miss calls? His phone never rings more than twice!" and "What time does LeBron James go to sleep? A quarter after three!"
James' tendency to not live up to his name in the fourth quarter of contests has been the talk of sports writers since his first Finals' appearance. James' Cavaliers were swept by the San Antonio Spurs in the 2006-07 NBA Finals, while his Heat were defeated 4-2 by the Dallas Mavericks in the 2010-11 campaign and again by the Spurs, 4-1 in 2014. Statistically, James was particularly worse in the final quarter of play and even left the court because of cramps during the fourth quarter of Game 1 in the 2014 series.
With the great success James has had, four consecutive Finals appearances and four league MVP awards, comparisons to all-time greats like Michael Jordan (six rings) and Magic Johnson (five rings) are inevitable. While supporters are quick to point out his numerous accolades and back-to-back titles with the Miami Heat, his critics often object that until he leads his team to the "promised land" more frequently, the hype is not warranted.
