What Is the Goldfish Card Game?

Goldfish, also known as Go Fish, is a card game that can be played with two to five players. The objective of the game is to collect more books of cards than the rest of the players.

To play, use a standard playing card deck of 52 cards. The dealer shuffles and cuts the deck then deals the cards to the players. If there are two to three players, each player gets seven cards. If there are four to five players, each player gets five cards. The rest of the deck is placed in the middle.

In a clockwise rotation, each player asks the player to his left if she has a certain card he wants to pair to complete a book. A book is any set of four like cards. If a player does not have the requested card, he or she says "no" and "go fish." The asking player then draws a card from the deck in the middle. The game continues until the deck is finished. The winner is the player with the most completed books of cards.
