A geocaching treasure hunt is an outdoor game that entails using GPS receiver or device to locate a buried container. Players get a set of GPS coordinates to find the treasure cache that also contains a logbook and some trinkets.
To go on a geocaching treasure hunt, players can create an account on Geocaching and then go to the "Find a Geocache" page to get GPS coordinates for sites close to them. Players can find other locations by using the search tool.
When players find the buried cache, which is commonly a waterproof metal box, they enter messages in the logbook and may take a trinket from the box. However, a rule of the game is that if a player takes a trinket, it must be replaced with an item that of equal or higher value. Players then rebury the geocache container for other players to find.
