Some gameplay tips for “The Legend of Zelda: Link's Awakening” include getting items for free by picking them up in the store and walking out without paying; changing the game's background music by creating a new player with the name ZELDA; and making a missile by setting bombs and arrows to the A and B buttons. Players fire the missile by pressing A and B simultaneously.
When trying to get a free item in the shop, the player has to pick up the item and walk out the front door when the shopkeeper is not looking. Once the player has stolen the item, the shopkeeper zaps them with lighting if they try to re-enter the shop, resulting in losing a life. Despite this, the player still gets to keep the stolen item.
Another way to save money without stealing is to pick up an item and proceed to buy it like normal. As the money is being taken out of the player's in-game wallet, he can press the Start, Select, A and B buttons simultaneously to bring up a menu that gives him the option to save and quit. When the player reloads his game, the item is still in his inventory, along with most of the money that the item cost.
