A flash drive that is compatible with the Xbox console will have a USB connection type. It should be connected to an available USB slot in order to provide extra memory for games and other files.
Xbox 360 consoles have three USB ports. Two are located on the front of the console, and they are hidden by a plastic flap when not in use. There is also another open USB port located on the back of the console which provides three available slots for a flash drive connection. Since wired controllers are normally plugged into the front two ports for easy access, a portable flash drive can take up the single USB port on the back of the console.
The flash drive can be plugged straight into the USB port or connected by a USB cable. All flash drives must be configured to work with the Xbox 360 console to provide additional storage and access to saved content.
