What Is the Fastest Horse in the World?

The fastest racehorse on record is Winning Brew. She was a 2-year-old thoroughbred filly in 2008 when she set the record at the Penn National Race Course in Grantville, Penn. Winning Brew covered a 1/4-mile track in just under 21 seconds, reaching a top speed of nearly 44 mph.

Winning Brew was trained by Francis Vitale. Her jockey for the race in which she broke the record was Joanne McDaid. Despite her record-breaking run, Winning Brew does not have a particularly distinguished racing record. She placed in only two of the seven total races she ran, and was retired in 2009.
